Have you heard of LegenDerry Ladies Ltd? If not then you should check this out and no doubt you will be hearing a lot more about this inspiring group of Derry women.
Award winning LegenDerry Ladies Ltd was founded earlier this year and is run by Annmarie Coyle. I have been very impressed by what she and the ladies have achieved so far in such a short space of time.
If you are a woman with a business idea and need help and support or a platform to get out there then read on. Click the link below to get to the Facebook page and once there hit "like"
Instead of me telling you what they are all about have a read at Annmarie's story below and some more details.
The LegenDerry Ladies Ltd was started in March 2013 by myself. Having set up my own business from home in November 2012 I came across and started meeting so many mums and ladies who had set up their own enterprises from home, with the most amazing talent, craft and creativity. As I enquired further I found that this was a real hidden gem in the city and further afield and in a time of recession, and negative growth the spirit and positivity of these women drove me to think that we should be coming together as a group to help each other out. I wanted to set up a forum where we could speak with a louder voice by coming together, to tell the business world out there... “Look what we can do.” Here are ladies driving the economy from their own homes by crafting, teaching, painting, sourcing, selling, baking, serving. A lot of them staying at home with the kids or holding down other jobs at the same time.
I created the facebook group and put a call out to all ladies with their own enterprises to join up. We have over 320 ladies already only since March and our list is so varied from cupcakes, to opera singers, to bags, jewellery, artist, vintage tea cups, furniture painting, knitting, crochet crafts etc.
In our group page we explore best practices on how to improve our businesses in a non-corporate setting. We talk about how to use social media for business, improve customer base and customer service, we share our tips rather than compete against each other we celebrate our own unique selling points.
We have successful meetings now with over 30 ladies turning out at each and are about to have our latest in October. We network, have had ladies do talks on preparing for fairs, twitter, we are looking to cover topics such as time management.
We are doing pop up shops in empty premises where ladies get the chance to retail in the city centre, try merchandising ideas, access a new customer base, avail of passing trade and increase sales. We have already done 5 pop up shops between City Centre shopping centres and are about to do our next one in the Richmond Centre at the end of September.
It has brought a lot of our ladies out of the isolation which can happen working from home, it has provided inspiration and motivation for new businesses to emerge.
