I am absolutely over the moon to announce that my picture “Bogside Bonfire” has been selected as the winner (1st Place) of the National Awards in the Ireland category of the 2017 Sony World Photography Award.
The Sony World Photography awards is the biggest photography competition in the world and I am so overwhelmed to have been selected as a winner. This is a huge milestone in my photography career. To win such an award like this especially in the Ireland category is such an honour and a dream come true for me. I enter the Sony World Photography awards every year and I have always dreamed of winning such a prestigious award.
This award means everything and makes all the years of hard work in photography worth while. Photography is a passion and to be recognised on a world stage alongside some of the top photographers in the world is overwhelming. I have always admired the level of talent every year across all categories and to be considered a winner is my biggest achievement to date.
Sony the sponsors of the awards are flying me to London to attend the Gala dinner and awards ceremony where I will be staying in a 5 star hotel in central London and receive my prize a Sony a7 II ILCE-7M2 full frame mirrorless camera. What a prize!
The World Photography Organisation are hosting an exhibition at Somerset House in London from 21st April – 7th May and my image will also be shown as part of the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition in London.
