I headed off around 10pm on St Patricks to try and catch the aurora. I was in two minds as I wanted to catch the end of Arsenals game against Monaco in the champions league and my 6 month old daughter was refusing to go to sleep for us. Skies began to get cloudy when I headed off and it was late. I thought why not so I headed off in the car to Fort Dunree in Donegal. It was worth staying up for. What an amazing sight!
The Aurora itself was hard to see with the naked eye. There was definite colours between the clouds and at one stage the whole of dunree was changing colour. I had never experienced anything like it before. I set up the camera on the tripod and I was blown away with the colours in the sky. This final image is made up of 10 separate shots stitched together to make a wide angle panorama. The sky was truly green for St Patricks day.
